Change and Control
The catalogue of near-cataclysmic crisis in Pakistan, of gut-wrenching accidents and soul-shattering incidents, is endless. But among all the crisis which happened here and generated lasting changes in the course of Pakistani society, the silver linings couldnt be retained and converted into something beneficial due to the lack of interest of our leaders and due to the apathy of the masses.
The absurdities of our approach towards crisis-handing are very much palpable and proven time and time again. The populace neglect of crisis-resolution has a close-knitted nexus and relation and connection with the vogue for evolutionary crisis, which beget more crisis and then boasting of it through self-righteous determinism.
All these years, since our independence, Pakistani nation has never been able to rise above the average and has been marred by crisis after crisis. This nation has been cajoled, deceived, bullied, and then deceived again; sometimes by the same faces again and again or sometimes by the fresh faces, or even sometimes by the imported faces. All these years, while the nation has suffered, the time has kept on flowing under the bridges, and the tide of history has flowed on unperturbed by crisis’ broils.
What’s so special about other rising Asian powers like South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong and even India? Their economies are strong, no country-shattering crisis are there. People have hope and they believe in their future. But here in Pakistan, there is a feeling of despondence is prevalent, and gloom and doom is everywhere.
We, right now, need a concerted effort among us to rise above this darkness, join hands, and break the shackles of “Control”. Control and Change cannot go hand in hand, and the time has come when at last control has to give way to the forces of change.
