But Music is Soothing…..
So is Alcohol, Weed and Cocaine
When a person commits a sin his/her level of Imaan goes down whether they consider it a son or not. The sign of a weak imaan is not wanting to pray. Most people in this country just pray the Friday (juma’a) prayer. The first thing in Islam is the prayers. Allah has promised a hard life for those who turn away from the Quran.
Some people try to justify music by saying that it is not mentioned “directly” in the Quran. Well, there are verses in the Quran that refer to music, admit it or not.
One thing I would like to ask people who justify listening to music is that rape is also not mentioned “directly” in the Quran. So, can I justify a heinous sin and crime like rape.
Some people go to the extent of saying that music is food for the soul. Maybe thats why anti-depressants in these places are a million dollar business.
When a person commits a sin believing that a sin is being committed and feels regret and remorse in the heart, then this is far better then committing the sin and believing it to be halal. In the former situation, only one sin is being committed, and it is very likely that the individual may repent out of the remorse felt in the heart. In the latter case, however, in addition to the sin being committed, there is the greater sin of trying to justify it. Normally, such an individual does not receive the guidance to repent from his sin.
Sayyiduna Abu Malik al-Ashari (Allah be pleased with him) reports that he heard the Messenger of Allah say: There will appear people in my Ummah, who will hold adultery, silk, alcohol and musical instruments to be lawful (Sahih al-Bukhari)

Mr. Yusha, please realize that Islam has a bad name in the rest of the world because of such views held by people like you. Psychiatrists recommend music to be used for therapy, especially in curing people like you who suffer from depression, as well as in relieving the symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease. Music may have been banned in the Hadith because to listen to music, men had to go to whorehouses, where they indulged in other evils like fornication and drinking. Listening to music on tape or on TV is harmless.

You have to be kidding me!
You stopped arguing on the previous thread of comments on Music and started a new post?!
Some people try to justify music by saying that it is not mentioned “directly” in the Quran. Well, there are verses in the Quran that refer to music, admit it or not.
You said yourself in the last post that there is no mention of music directly in Quran! And the verse you quote do not refer to music! And no one is justifying music here. If you do not want to listen.. please do not but do not make it sound ‘haram’ as if religion did so!
One thing I would like to ask people who justify listening to music is that rape is also not mentioned “directly” in the Quran. So, can I justify a heinous sin and crime like rape.
No one can justify rape just because its not mentioned in Quran! I asked you before in previous post, is cyberporn mentioned in Quran or even hadith? No! would you let your children do it because its not in Quran or Hadith?!
And God clearly stated in 5:90 what are handiworks of satan which include ‘Intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows’.. there is no music in it!
If you say that Music is forbidden… then bring me where God stated it to be.
6:150 - Say: “Bring forward your witnesses to prove that Allah did forbid so and so.” If they bring such witnesses, be not thou amongst them: Nor follow thou the vain desires of such as treat our signs as falsehoods, and such as believe not in the Hereafter: for they hold others as equal with their Guardian-Lord.
why do I like this verse so much?!

Dear Postman, this guy is not going to change, he is no different from the illiterate mullahs who have occupied mosques and madressahs in Pakistan.
