Be Your Own Boss
Tired of working for someone else? Feel out of your elements in corporate meeting? Frustrated by dreadful office politics and back-bitings? Can’t bear the incompetent manager or lazy co-workers anymore? It’s time now to be on your own boss.
Working for your self, in your own hours, on your conditions, at your place, doning pajamas (if you may) is a dream for everyone who is fedup with corporate rat-race. If you efforts are not appreciated, nor appraised, and you see your work and ambitions going down the drain as someone with less hair (and intellect) is unable to comprehend your Big Ideas, it’s time to move on, Hasta Lavista.
Working for your self and earning a respectable living from it sounds too good to be true. However, with careful planning, dedication and commitment, it can be achieved in due time.
This brings us to three basic W’s, which are:
- What: are you going to do?
- Where: would you do it?
- When: would you start?
Ofcourse, you can add a ‘why’ to the equation, as why to go for your own thing and not to stick with a 9-to-5 circus.
So, to begin from the begining, you have to analyze ‘what’ you are going to do, if you are Doing It Yourself. This question requires good amount of though and home work, as it will shape up your future. The correct answer, and it’s implementation, will lead you to a happy living, ever after.
What you will do and when you go solo depends on what your interests are, what your skill set is and how much time, and money, you can inest to compile and enhance your tool set.
Internet has brought a lot of opportunities to the masses and people with right attitude and skills can earn a fortune from it. Tap a niche, provide the services people are looking for, and you will be an instant hit. You don’t need to be an innovator to start of with. Look at existing products and services around you, explore the shortcommings and supply them.
In the later parts I will cover Internet based work opportunites and how to be successful in them.
