Asif Zardari and Sarah Palin: Where Mr Ten Percent meets the Pit Bull with Lip Stick

Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan, and his team buttered and flattered Sarah Palin, Republican Vice President nominee and Governor of Alaska, while she met them as part of her International Diplomacy crash course at sidelines of United Nations General Assembly meetings.

Asif Zardari meets Sarah Palin

Bob Drogin of LA Times reports on how the conversation happened:

Shortly before Palin met the Pakistani leader at the InterContinental Hotel, aides for the two squabbled about whether they should sit behind a low coffee table. Zardari’s aides wanted a table, Palin’s staff did not. Ultimately the table was taken away. Score one for the Americans.

Entering the room, Palin was introduced not only to Zardari but to Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Quershi, Pakistan’s foreign minister, and Sherry Rehman, the information minister.

“So nice to meet you,” Palin said politely.

“Busy on the campaign trail?” Rehman asked.

“Yes, yes,” Palin replied.

“How does one keep looking that good?” Rehman inquired.

“Oh, oh, thank you,” the governor responded.

At that point, Zardari entered and the conversation turned decidedly flirtatious. He told her she was “even more gorgeous” than he thought.

“You are so nice,” Palin said. “Thank you.”

Zardari pressed on: “Now I know why the whole of America is crazy about you.”

At that point a Zardari handler asked them to shake hands again for the cameras.

“I’m supposed to pose again,” Palin said.

“If he’s insisting,” Zardari said, “I might hug.”

Eventually, real business got underway.

Palin, who has yet to hold a news conference since McCain plucked her from relative obscurity on Aug. 29, even answered a reporter’s question as to how she enjoyed her meetings.

“It’s going great,” she said. “The meetings are very informative and helpful. A lot of good people share an appreciation for America.”

Apparently Zardari, in shoes of Shaukat Aziz, scored a point over The Pit Bull with a Lip Stick.

Nowadays Mr. Ten Percent is in deep shit, having made one mistake after another. Future historians will wonder how such a mentally unstable person ever became the president of this benighted country.

    @Zahid Khan

We will be in more trouble soon if they implement the agricultural tax they are thinking abt now. You think food is expensive now. Wait till these ppl impose those taxes on our agriculture. They have indeed taken the bread, cloth and house (roti, kapra aur makan) away from even the lower middle class of Pakistan. The only answer is a revolution. When will the ppl of this country wake up and realise that they have the fate of Pakistan in their hands.

Worst times have arrived therefore Mr. 10% (ten percent) have become leaders of our beloved country. I will not go into the details how corrupt our leaders are. Along with corruption they don’t care if poor people live or die. Zardari and his government have sold our country for few dollars and now our national interests are also on sale by him. When I think about the situation in Pakistan my heart really goes, looking at the necessity which Pakistani nation does not have, such as Sugar, Wheat flour, Electricity, Gas, jobs, clean drinking water and there is huge list of other necessities which Pakistani nation does not enjoy. However leaders of Pakistan have turned a blind eye to the problems of poor people. I always wonder that why Pakistan does not utilizes 18 billion people and produce various items which can later be sold in international market such as Airplanes, Fast Trains, Weapon technology and various other items. Leaders of Pakistan have pledged to neglect this nation and they are extremely busy filling their own pockets with stolen poor people’s money. I pray to God that the injustice vanishes soon and we see a real and authentic leader who can lead us through prosperity and happiness. I believe the leaders of Pakistan have failed to look after their country and they have failed to show care. We as a nation should unite together and raise against the ignorance we face today. Thank you
