Anti Democracy Attacks
The Presidential camp is frantically and fantastically trying to have its say in the affairs of next setup and they are creating a specter of coalition of PML-N and PPP. Best thing for President Musharraf is that if PPP gets some sort of coalition and coordination with the King’s Party PML-Q.
Musharraf camp is trying hard to hatch a coalition of PPP, PML-Q, MMA, MQM and anyone they can muster with power and pelf. Hamid Nasir Chattha is the central figure in all this drama, and he is trying to convince Zardari that if PML-N makes the government in Punjab, then PPP would be wiped out of this biggest province of Pakistan forever.
They are also trying to convince Asif Ali Zardari that the front runner for the Prime Minister slot from the camp of PPP Makhdoom Amin Fahim is buying this idea of Musharraf, and so it would be prudent for Zardari to tag along with it. That is why Zardari is trying to shed away the Amin Fahim and he is looking at Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Yousaf Raza Gilani or Ahmad Mukhtar.
Asif Ali Zardari is proving a good stateman up till now. He is not only trying to save his own party, but also trying to subvert the willy activities of PML-Q. He needs to work closely with Nawaz Sharif to counter the anti-democracy and anti-judiciary attacks.

I strongly doubt Zardari’s ability to resist Musharraf and the U.S. Don’t forget that he had that Swiss case hanging over his head and was bailed out by the National Reconciliation Ordinance.
