Release Dr. Aafia Siddiqui

Another harsh summer awaits Karachi

Karachi power crisis getting worse with each passing day. Since taking over in 2005, KESC management did nothing to improve power generation and supply structure, while the government kept looking to other side. As the war between KESC and its suppliers goes on, Karachities continues to suffer.

Even now, government is fiddling with the issue instead of going on war footing. Care taker Prime Minister Mohammad Mian Soomro has shown some interest while President Musharraf is busy in activities far more important than 20 million people of Karachi.

Soomro has sent Major General (retd.) Farooq Ahmed Khan, Chairman of Prime Minister Inspection Commission and Disaster Management Cell, as his envoy to Karachi. General Farooq, (in)famous for delivering big presentation and no results in issues like Flour Crisis and Northern Bypass Bridge Collapse, met with representatives of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and KESC and after hearing their stance declared that new Prime Minister is going to resolve this issue.

For now, this seems to be another blame-game with no results or solutions. Karachities should start investing in generators and UPS as another harsh summer awaits Karachi.
