Release Dr. Aafia Siddiqui

Alarming Routine

The restive situation in the North West province and in the Balochistan province of Pakistan has become a routine, and there seems to be no stoppage to that, and while there is very less political will to resolve those issues, it seems that this would go on for quite a time from now on, and there is no immediate solution to the problem.

At least eight police officials were killed here as unknown culprits strike on a police check post in Bunir district of Balochistan and there is same situation in the NWFP where unknown persons blew up the link-bridge at Seenpura area here cutting off all the vehicular traffic. Security forces throughout the night kept bombing the local Taliban hideouts at Peochar, Namal, Wanai, Sarbanda areas of Matta and the mountains of Totano Bandai and Devlai areas of Tehsil Kabal.

Also there is a virtual halt to the jirga process and the local jirgas of the areas are in limbo and seems hapless. At least 37 people, including 30 militants and seven security personnel, were killed and several others injured in continued clashes between the security forces and the militants in the troubled Bajaur Agency.

Things are very alarming, very very alarming.
