A decision on Musharraf’s Impeachment

The coalition parties have at last announced a firm plan to go for an impeachment of Pervez Musharraf and reinstating the deposed judges of country’s superior courts. This decision will strictly take place according to the resolution passed in Murree declaration. This most awaited announcement was made in a joint communiqué.

PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari in a news conference read the decision. Zardari called this settlement as “good news for democracy.” He said, “The coalition has decided that it will immediately initiate impeachment proceedings against General (Retd) Musharraf.” A charge sheet would be soon presented in the parliament, he added. Regarding required majority in the parliament for impeachment of the president Musharraf he stated that the coalition has the power and the required votes.
